Areum Network now available on Dfns.
Dfns now supports Areum with full Tier-1 integration, including mainnet and testnet. This integration brings Areum into the Dfns platform as a fully operational environment for institutions, developers, and applications building on Areum's high-throughput Layer 1.
Dfns clients can now create wallets, sign transactions, and enforce governance policies on Areum through the same APIs used for every other supported chain. No new SDK, no new authentication model, no new operational lift. If your team already runs on Dfns, AREA transfers and Areum smart contract interactions plug into your existing workflows without changes.
What is Areum?
Areum is a decentralized Layer 1 blockchain designed for speed, low fees, and broad ecosystem usability. It’s EVM-compatible, giving teams a familiar development environment alongside the tooling and contract standards they already use across Ethereum-based infrastructure.
Key characteristics include:
- Proof of Area (POA) consensus: a delegated, validator-driven consensus model built using Tendermint and CometBFT, with AREA as the staking and governance asset
- High throughput: transaction confirmation as low as ~100 ms
- Low transaction costs: fees designed for consumer- and enterprise-scale usage, with per-transaction costs in fractions of a cent
- Native ecosystem: includes Areum Explorer, Hyperswap (DEX), XLaunch (launchpad), Synthetik (AI-assisted NFT minting), and the Areum Wallet
The combination of EVM compatibility, sub-second performance, and a growing native application ecosystem positions Areum for use cases that span payments, trading, and consumer-facing apps.
Full Tier-1 support on Dfns
Dfns provides full support for Areum, giving institutions access to a complete wallet infrastructure:
- Wallet creation: programmatic provisioning via API
- Native transfers: send and receive AREA
- Balance retrieval: query AREA and token balances across wallets
- Token transfers: support for EVM-standard tokens deployed on Areum, including stablecoins
- Smart contract execution: interact with onchain applications and financial workflows
- Transaction broadcasting: submit transactions to mainnet or testnet
- Secure signing: all operations run through Dfns' security infrastructure.
- Webhook notifications: real-time transaction, balance updates, and event monitoring.
All operations are secured by Dfns' zero trust architecture, with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001/17/18 certifications. Dfns operates strictly as a technology provider. Custody remains under the client's own regulatory perimeter and licensing framework.
Building on Areum with Dfns
Areum's design aligns well with the consumer and institutional use cases Dfns infrastructure supports. Examples include:
- Consumer wallets and payments: leverage Areum's sub-second confirmations and minimal fees for retail payments, in-app transfers, and high-frequency consumer flows
- DeFi applications: deploy and operate exchanges, lending markets, and yield products on an EVM-compatible chain with native peer-to-peer trading and launchpad infrastructure
- Token issuance and treasury management: mint, distribute, and manage Areum-based tokens with granular access controls, approval workflows, and audit trails
- Programmatic onchain workflows: trigger transactions and contract calls based on application events, using policies and entitlements managed in Dfns
Areum joins 60+ blockchain networks supported on Dfns, trusted by more than 400 institutional clients.
